RG’s Glitz and Glamour Survival
by Kapitan Bok Okay, let us set the record straight. Whether we like it or NOT, RG is the host of SP until the finale. No news about him of leaving or quitting the show. No replacement nor demotion that have taken place so far. No voluntary exodus from the island because of injuries or simply he wanted to go home (and opt to host Party Pilipinas instead) . We, netizens already ranted our disappointments of what we expect from a reality show host, especially that we are talking about the most controversial of all shows—Survivor. After PB left for a greener pasture (he is more attached with kinship than heart to heart relationship), we would expect the likes of Ryan Agoncillo or Paolo Abrera or the other RG ,(oops not the twin), Richard Gomez. What can I say about his first week as the new host? Honestly, before the filming of SP, I already conditioned myself to accept the REALITY that RG will be the new pinoy Jeff Probst. If only we can ask favor from Santa , right? But it’s not yet Christmas boys and gals. So we have two options: to watch this season or simply walk out. You can opt to hold on to your wishbone though. We are still free to dream, no matter how impossible. I honestly got dizzy watching him pacing back and forth from the pilot episode. And , hoping that it was just because he was also uber excited like the CA’s, I was then desolated after watching him again on the second day. Oh my. I feel for Princess Snail. She self-declared “lampa” not only towards the show, but some reasons the way she view what life is. This is exactly what I feel about RG ‘s hosting. But unlike snail, am taking the steps slowly but surely (insert very difficult here) while learning to appreciate the host. Besides, from the very beginning, this is a Celebrity Showdown, aight? RG’s Profile Gutierrez is the son of Eduardo P. Gutierrez and Talent Manager, Annabelle Rama and the brother of Ruffa, Rocky, Elvis, and Ritchie Paul.Gutierrez began acting as a child with his twin brother Raymond Gutierrez. He has worked in many movies with his father and his brothers. Richard Guttierez’s first show in GMA-7 is Click.Gutierrez starred in the TV fantasy series Mulawin which aired from August 2, 2004 until March 18, 2005, where he played the lead character Aguiluz…———- nah. Not that one. But these I find interesting: In 2008, he hosted two documentaries for GMA NP & A , Signos: Banta ng Kalikasan and Full Force of Nature which both discussed environmental advocacies. And recently in 2009, he again narrated GMA’s environmental project, Planet Philippines. Did I watch all of these ? No. But technically, he is proficient to take Survivor as his next hosting job. With three documentaries under his belt ( you knoooww), he can ENUNCIATE—in tagalog or English . Hosting is not his forte, but he can. I don’t think it is completely fair and reasonable to do the math of comparing him and PB or Jeff Probst. Nah , this time I am ditching my lousy calculator. Besides, compared to other prospect teeny bopper artists of GMA, I rather choose him since his plus factor is that he is an actor, he might not dictate authority towards the CA’s as we perceive it ( which I admit, PB was able to do that above par) , but still he can act on his narration. Im thankful that it was RG rather than the other stoic host that I know. (DA WHO! ) This is RG’s first hosting job in a reality show . We can’t avoid to pull the strings from him and impose the benchmarks from the past two seasons. This is a celebrity edition by the way, not the usual reality show of Survivor where ordinary persons are showcased. We also have our own version of halyu wave here in Philippines where fan services are served daily. For now, I will resolve in enjoying the show , less the nerve wracking , mind blowing Survivor fever that I came across from the past. The show is not that bad at all. Let us give the SPSC a shot guys. Just my two cents. You can throw tomatoes at me, but make it fresh please. They are good for the skin anyway.

Pacquiao Watch: Mayweather digs his own grave
Floyd Mayweather Jr’s racism-laden diatribes against Filipino boxing champion Manny Pacquiao can only come from a man totally afraid of his own ghost. Like I said, Mayweather needs Pacquiao to make him relevant even if he does not intend to fight the Filipino champion at all. Mayweather likes to pull the rug from under the feet of Pacquiao, his bitter rival as the world’s best pound for pound … Continue reading
Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao: A Call To Unite Boxing Fans
We want to support our favorite boxers, whoever they may be. I am as guilty as some of you are with our biased opinions of either Floyd Mayweather and/or Manny Pacquiao. It’s healthy to state your pros and cons of either fighter. It’s not healthy to throw insults at Mayweather or Pacquiao. I believe that Mayweather reads Bleacher Report articles, and maybe Manny Pacquiao does too. We’re hyping … Continue reading
Manny Pacquiao Ignores Floyd Mayweather’s Insults, Begins Training
Manny Pacquiao watched the UStream video of Floyd Mayweather twice and was unmoved by it. What good is it for him to react to the racist comments Mayweather said? According to Pacquiao, Mayweather’s comments were uneducated. Yeah, I’d say that too. The stuff Mayweather said is what you would hear from a 5-year-old. Sometimes he acts like a child when he brags about the money, cars, jewelry that … Continue reading
